Lengkuas, Burong and Aji island

Lengkuas is a small island, place in North of Tanjung Binga village. Total size may less than a hectare. Surrounding the island there are several granite rock islands that you can reach by just walking cross the sea water that less that 1.2m depth. Granite boulders structure is also unique as other beaches in combination with truly white sands and several trees. The water is totally clean, you can easily see the bottom of sea as well as fishes swimming inside the water. It is a nice place for playing in the water or snorkling.

The golden crown of Lengkuas is actually old lighthouse, built by Dutch in 1882. I don't have information about height, but it is a 12 stories building. My best guest it is at least 50m height. All visitor can freely stepping up to the top of lighthouse. It's a bit tough, but it will paid-off. The view from top of Lengkuas lighthouse is just can not be described. It's totally beautiful all within 360 degree of islands view and surrounding. Don't forget to bring your camera, let's picture tell the story.

There are only 3 people live in Lengkuas. All of them are operators of the lighthouse. They are all warm and very welcome to every guest. Please note, pure water is limited in the island, and even though they have rest room, please use the water wisely. This is a very relax place, the winds blow are fresh, you can lay down in a white sands beach surrounded by coconuts trees.

Lengkuas can be reach by rental boat from Tanjung Binga. It will cost you USD 35,- per trip that usually takes half days. The journey from main land Belitung to Lengkuas is just about 30-45 minutes. The boat can bring 30-40 people and it is a fisherman boat that usually used by fisherman for fishing activity at night. It is a unique boat while they have cages in both side that makes the ship quite stable event hough sailing in a big waves.

The best time to visit Lengkuas is during March - November. During this time the sea wave will not that big, so you can enjoy sailing, snorkling and swimming in clear water as shown in the pictures. During December - January, the wave may becoming big and sometime can be heavy raining all day in Belitung.

Between Lengkuas and fisherman port in Tanjung Binga there is another island called Burung island. You will pas this island a long the way your trip to Lengkuas. This island is bigger than Lengkuas, with white sand beaches in South and granite rocky coast in the North. Visitor usually stop by at Burung island on the way back from Lengkuas to Tanjung Binga. The most interesting object in Burung island is a granite boulder that form like a head of bird, that may cause this island named Burung (=bird) island.
